Breakfast and departure to Ankara via the Bolu Mountains, arrival in Ankara, capital of the republic, and a visit to the Mausoleum of Atatürk founder of the Republic of Turkey. Lunch. Continuation to Cappadocia. On the way, we will see the second largest lake in Turkey, the Salt Lake. Arrival at the hotel and dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 4
Breakfast and departure for the visit of this wonderful region, a mixture of the whims of nature and human art. Visiting the open-air museum of Göreme with the frescoed rock-hewn churches. Stops in the valleys of Avcilar and Güvercinlik where you will enjoy an incredible lunar landscape. Lunch. Afterward, typical visit to the workshops of carpets and onyx and turquoise where you can find quality and good price. Dinner and overnight stay (In Cappadocia you will have the possibility to take an optional hot air balloon ride at sunrise and participate in a folk dance show in a typical cave with unlimited regional drinks).
DAY 5
Breakfast and departure to the subway city of Özkonak or Kaymaklio Mazı were excavated by early Christian communities. Visits to Çavusin, a typical village of the region with its houses of different cultures. Lunch. Tour of the valley of Pausabağ. Then visit the valley of Uçhisar where you can contemplate the ancient fortress carved into the rock. Visit the Valley of Love where we will view the most curious formations of Cappadocia. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 6
Breakfast and departure to Konya on the way visit a typical medieval inn of the Silk Road. Lunch. Continuation to Pamukkale, a natural wonder of gigantic white waterfalls, stalactites, and natural pools from hot springs. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 7
Breakfast and visit of Pamukkale, famous for its petrified limestone waterfalls that have formed because of the lime water emanating in the area. Visit Hierapolis which has a necropolis of more than 150,000 tombs. Departure to Ephesus, the capital of Asia Minor in Roman times. Lunch. Visit the archaeological remains where the temple of Hadrian and the Library of Celsus stand out. Visit the House of the Virgin Mary and the possibility of visiting a typical leather goods center. Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Istanbul. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel
DAY 8
Breakfast and departure for the visit of the old part of the city where the most important Ottoman and Byzantine monuments are concentrated. Visit the famous temple of Hagia Sophia, the largest sanctuary in the world until the seventeenth century built by Emperor Justinian in the sixth century; the Roman Hippodrome, which preserves the Obelisk of Theodosius, the Egyptian Obelisk, the Serpentine Column, and the fountain of Emperor William. We will continue our excursion with a visit to the famous Blue Mosque, the only one in the world with 6 minarets. Lunch and visit the Topkapı Palace which was the main palace of the Ottomans for 4 centuries. Afterward the guide will accompany you to the Grand Bazaar where the tour ends. If this tour falls on a Sunday, the visit to the Grand Bazaar will be replaced by the Egyptian Spice Bazaar as the Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays
DAY 9
Transfer to the airport for a flight to Amman. Arrival and our Jordanian representative will be waiting for you for visa processing and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay
DAY 10
Breakfast. Departure to visit the Orthodox Church of St. George, where the first map-mosaic of Palestine is located. Continue to Mount Nebo to admire the panoramic view of the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea from the mountain. This place is important because it was the last place visited by Moses and from where the prophet saw the Promised Land, which he would never reach. It continues to the castle of Shobak, a lonely reminder of the ancient glory of the Crusaders, built in 1115 by King Baldwin, which was built as a defense of the road between Damascus and Egypt. The castle is located less than an hour north of Petra, sometimes referred to as “MontReal or MonsRegalis”, is nestled on the side of a mountain, on a large area of fruit trees. Departure to Petra. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 11
Breakfast. Full day dedicated to the visit of the pink city, the capital of the Nabataeans. During the visit, we will visit the most important and representative monuments carved into the rock by the Nabataeans. The Treasury, a famous and internationally known monument taken to the movies in one of the films of Indiana Jones, the Tombs of Colors, the Royal Tombs, etc. Petra is one of those places in the world where you have to go at least once in your life. At the end of the visit, already in the afternoon, return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 12
Breakfast. Departure to what is known as “Little Petra” (Little Petra), just 15 km. north of Petra. A gorge barely 2 m. wide with its typical Nabatean architecture makes this visit unique and incomparable. It was inhabited by the Nabateans and has many tombs, water vessels, and watercourses, it has a small road leading to some of the inner areas, Siq Al Bared, the scale of this area and the fact that it is the continuation of Petra, gave it the name of Little Petra. Departure to Wadi Rum, the desert of Lawrence of Arabia. Excursion in the desert of Wadi Rum and ride in 4×4 vehicles driven by Bedouins for 2 hours, consists of a small excursion in the lunar landscape of this desert. We will go into the pink sands of this desert, which has a special charm provided by the granite massifs that nature has modeled with whimsical shapes. Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.
DAY 13
Breakfast. Transfer to the Dead Sea. The lowest point on earth, located 400 meters below sea level. Possibility of bathing. Transfer to Allenby border, pick up by our driver, transfer to hotel in Jerusalem, overnight stay
DAY 14
Breakfast. The tour starts with a panoramic view of Jerusalem. Visit Mount Zion. Then entrance to the Old City to tour the Muslim and Jewish Quarters. View of the recently restored “Cardo”, the Wailing Wall. We will walk along the Via Dolorosa arriving at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. In the afternoon departure to Bethlehem where we will visit the Shepherds’ Field and the Church of the Nativity. Return to hotel in Jerusalem and overnight stay.
DAY 15
Breakfast and free day in Jerusalem with the possibility to make the optional excursion for an extra charge at the destination. Departure to Masada through the Judean desert. Visit the last fortification of the Jews against the Romans – Ascent, and descent by cable car. Afterward, we will visit the Dead Sea where we will enjoy a swim if the weather permits. Return to hotel in Jerusalem and overnight stay.
DAY 16
Breakfast. Departure north to Nazareth where we will visit the Church of the Annunciation. Passing through Cana we will reach Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee. On the shores of the Lake, we will visit Capernaum, where Jesus resided during the years of his ministry. We will continue with the visit of Tabgha, the place where the miracle of the Multiplication of the loaves and fishes took place. Continue to the “Yardenit” on the Jordan River, the place where Jesus was baptized. Return to the hotel in Jerusalem and overnight stay.
DAY 17
Breakfast and transfer to Ben Gurion Airport for flight to Cairo. Arrival and visa processing, transfer to hotel and overnight stay.
DAY 18
Breakfast and check out at 12.00 hrs, in the morning visit the Pyramids of Cheops, Kefren, Mykerinos, and the Sphinx. This visit has a duration of approx. 3 hours, after its completion it is possible to enjoy the afternoon at leisure or make the optional visit to Memphis and Sakkara, the ruins of the original Cairo. On the evening flight to Luxor, arrival, and transfer to the ship, cold dinner in the room, and overnight stay on board
DAY 19
Full board on board. Today we will cross the Nile to visit the Necropolis of Thebes. Visit the famous Valley of the Kings, where the main pharaohs of the New Empire were buried between the XVIII, XIX, and XX dynasties, and where the famous tomb of Pharaoh Tutkhamon is located (entrance fee not included). We will also visit Deir El Bahari known as the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Finally, we will stop at the Colossi of Memnon, which represents the pharaoh Amenhotep III. The Greek historian Strabo reported that as a result of the earthquake of 27 BC, the colossi were damaged. And it was from then on that the statues were said to sing every morning at sunrise. This phenomenon was due to the change of temperature caused by the evaporation of the water in the early morning, which, coming out through the fissures of the colossus, produced this singular sound; but with the restoration that the Roman emperor Septimus Severus made to the statue in the 3rd century A.D., this phenomenon disappeared. We cross to the eastern bank of the Nile, visit the temple complex at Karnak, built by different pharaohs, such as Ramses III, Taharqa, Seti II, etc. Among the grandeur of the temples of Karnak, highlights the hypostyle hall of the temple of Amun, with its 134 columns, 12 of which reach 23 m in height. At the end of this fascinating visit, we will go to the Temple of Luxor. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, it is another visit not to be missed when traveling to Egypt. The temple of Luxor was consecrated to the god Amun and Amun Ra, being the pharaohs who built more constructions, Amenhotep III and Ramses II. Return to the cruise ship. At the scheduled time we will sail to Esna. After crossing the Esna lock, we will continue sailing to Edfu. Overnight stay on board.
DAY 20
Full board on board. Upon arrival at Edfu, a visit to the Temple of Edfu was dedicated to the god Horus, located in what was called Apollinaropolis Magna during the Greco-Roman period. It is the second-largest temple in Egypt after Karnak and certainly one of the best-preserved. Its construction dates back to the Hellenistic period, between 237 and 57 B.C. At the end of the visit, we will continue sailing to Kom Ombo. Visit the temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the gods Sobek with a crocodile head and Haroeris, with a falcon head. The temple was the work of Ptolemy VI Philometor (180-145 BC), in the early years of his reign. Later, some Ptolemies, such as Ptolemy VIII and Ptolemy XII, contributed to its enlargement. DAY 21
Overnight stay on a full board basis. Early in the morning **** there is a possibility to make an optional excursion to the Abu Simbel Temples through extra payment at destination ****. Later visit the city of Aswan with the Temple of Isis (Philae) which is located on an island accessing it in a boat. In the afternoon ride in “faluca”, typical sailing boats in the area. dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 22
After breakfast disembarkation and check out from the ship’s room at 8.00 am, free time in Aswan. At scheduled time transfer to Aswan airport for flight to Cairo, transfer to hotel and rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.
DAY 23
Breakfast and free day. There is an optional scheduled excursion to visit the most emblematic sites of the city. The Citadel of Saladin, Alabaster Mosque, Khan el Khalili Market, Egyptian Museum, and Coptic Quarter are accompanied by guides and private transportation. It is possible to hire them at the destination.
DAY 24
Breakfast and check out and at scheduled time transfer to the airport for flight to the city of origin.
